The 2011 series was considered one of the most exciting in recent history and the two sides will renew hostilities at Etihad Stadium for the opening game in 2012.

While Queensland has dominated State of Origin in recent years, the Blues will be backing themselves in Melbourne.

Etihad Stadium has hosted State of Origin matches on two past occasions - Game 3 in 2006 and Game 1 on 2009.
